Northern District Court of NY Naturalization Project

This database contains an index to the naturalization records that were issued between 1821 and 1855 by the Northern District Courts, which includes the counties of Albany, Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Clinton, Cortland, Delaware, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Montgomery, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Tioga, Tompkins, Warren and Washington. It contains 208 records which were filed by date and do not contain petition numbers.

Copies of the naturalization papers can be obtained from the National Archives by using this form. Copies can also be made at the National Archives, 201 Varick Street, New York, NY 10014 and are much cheaper since you only pay for photocopying charges.
